5 Core Values

In its most basic form, a disciple is someone who exists in a loving relationship with Jesus Christ and seeks to do His will in life – missional- mindedness being an essential part of this developmental process. With the definition of a missionally-minded disciple of Jesus Christ in hand, the following are both values we hope to see developed within the hearts of he youth that are engaged in our program and guiding principles for the leaders of W.I.L.D.

Grace: Missionally-minded followers of Jesus Christ have all individually received the saving grace of Jesus Christ (Rom. 10:9).  Those who have experienced this grace also desire to share this love to others around them through evangelism and the collective ministry of the Church (Matt. 28:19).

Growth: Missionally-minded followers of Jesus Christ know that the grace of Godthat saved them is only the beginning of His work within them (Eph. 2:8-10).  Disciples of Jesus Christ gratefully and willingly respond to this grace by pursuing a lifelong process of spiritual growth centered in prayer, worship, and Bible study (2 Pet. 3:18).  Such commitments are not made simply for the self, but as a further means of reaching a lost world for Jesus Christ (Matt. 5:16).

Gather: Missionally-minded followers of Jesus pursue loving relationships with those in his/her home, school, and church community (Acts 2:46). These disciples recognize that one of the Lord’s greatest desires is to see His creation find reconciliation with Himself and with one another (Matt. 5:9, Rom. 14:19)

Gifts: Missionally-minded followers of Jesus Christ recognize that the Church is composed of independent members, each uniquely gifted by the Holy Spirit for the purpose of building up the body and furthering the ministry of the Church in the world (Rom. 12:6-8)

Going: Missionally-minded followers of Jesus Christ recognize that God is a missional God and He has a plan for the world.  These disciples understand that God desires to restore all of His creation and expects those who have turned to Him in faith and repentance to go and extend the message of peace and salvation through Jesus Christ to those in and outside of the Church (Matt 28:19, Gen 12:2).

Hi, my name is David Hammond, most people like to call me Dave, but I even reply to, "hey you". I was born in New Jersey but grew up in Bloomington, MN. I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelors of Arts in Religious Studies. I currently work at UPS, supervising the Preload Shift from 4AM to 9AM, and at Caribou Coffee for something to do in the afternoon. I grew up always going to church but the truth of how amazing God is didn't sink in until I went to college. I am so thankful for all of the Sunday School lessons, Wednesday Night Programs, and summer trips that I went on as a youth because now that I want to follow Christ will my everything, all of these stories and Psalty songs are totally relevant. I desire that the youth of Hope won't have to tell people that they grew up in a church but didn't make their faith their own until they went to college. We will be having a blast this year getting to know Christ and hope that everyone who comes will get the chance to be changed by the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus our Lord.
